Toews & Bale
Prairie Hay, Hard Work, and Homegrown Blooms
Visitors can see a real working farm up close. Depending on the weather and the season, there may be tractors in the field, hay being handled, and plenty of honest farm stories. Like most farms, plans can change quickly when the weather does.
Toews & Bale is a family-run prairie farm in Thorhild County, Alberta. The farm grows quality hay, including timothy, alfalfa, and orchard grass, with a focus on small square bales for horses. Their hay is shipped near and far, including to places as far away as Florida. The farm is also home to PoppyWynn Flower Co., a cut-flower farm that grows hardy, seasonal blooms for florists, weddings, and flower lovers. Visitors may be able to walk through the flower rows and see what is growing, and on busy days the team may be cutting flowers in the field. A visit to Toews & Bale gives guests a simple, genuine look at rural Alberta: hay fields, flowers, family work, and prairie hospitality.
