Alberta Open Farm Days is a collaborative, province-wide, two-day event that gives Albertans an insider's look into agriculture, farm life and understanding how their food is produced. It is a free educational experience and a hands on opportunity to See, Meet and Taste.
Here in the Lakeland, participating sites range from farms, ranches, food producers, breweries, gardens and orchards to dairies, farm implement dealers and museums. For one weekend, the gates are open to the public. Come and meet your rural neighbours.
Get up close with animals, try fresh grown and prepared foods, play in corn mazes and hay bales, suit up and visit a bee hive or climb into some very, very big farm equipment. Support and help grow rural tourism in the Lakeland and enjoy all the hidden gems we have to offer.
The 2026 Open Farm Days theme is ‘Rangelands and Pastoralists’
Rangelands span across are our rolling hills and grasslands. They are diverse ecosystems and support livelihoods. Pastoralists are those who raise livestock and are stewards of lands.
Open Farm Days takes place across Alberta on Saturday, August 15 & Sunday, August 16, 2026. Host sites may be open for one or both days of the event. Go to the map below and explore the site profiles to help you plan your Lakeland Open Farm Days experience.

A night under the aurora at Métis Crossing.

Open Farm Day hosts offer visitors free entrance to their premises and a free educational component.
Hosts may offer additional goods for sale, such as food, drinks, and souvenirs. Our suggestion would be to bring cash as farms might not be set up for debit/credit cards. It's also a great idea to bring a cooler for your produce in case you're spending your days visiting farms.
Pets are generally not allowed on farms. Remember, these are working farms, with lots of different animals, including farm dogs.
Check the profile as some farms require bookings and some do not. As well, some might only be open on the Saturday or Sunday instead of both days.
We hope you have a great Lakeland Open Farm Days experience!
