Pitchfork Gardens
Fresh, Colourful, Community‑Grown Produce
Pitchfork Gardens is a vibrant, community minded market garden offering visitors a look at regenerative growing practices, fresh seasonal produce, and the beauty of small scale agriculture.
Their Open Farm Days experience highlights the creativity, colour, and care behind their garden based operation. Pitchfork Gardens opened in 2020 and grows a wide variety of vegetables along with strawberries and raspberries for visitors to pick. They grow everything from familiar favourites to the more unusual—at least as wild as vegetables can get—and the selection changes naturally from spring through fall. Their crops include apples, beets, beet greens, beans, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, dill, fennel, garlic, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, onions, peas, sweet and hot peppers, potatoes, raspberries, shallots, strawberries, and tomatoes. During Alberta Open Farm Days, visitors can plant a “dragon” (dragon’s tongue bean) to take home, enjoy a hot dog and pop for $5 in support of the County of Lamont Food Bank, join garden tours with some rough terrain, visit the honey bee hives protected by an electric fence, and pick their own vegetables—most of which should be in season, though some may be limited in quantity.
