Musee St.Paul Museum
Musee St.Paul Museum
Musee St. Paul Museum is unique because it houses two museums in one building. Together our focus is on preserving local agricultural heritage, acquiring relevant artifacts, conducting research related to the history of farming in this area, and presenting it to the general public.
Our customers include all those interested in history, from children to adults, including individuals with disabilities and mobility issues. We are committed to providing our visitors with clearly presented displays in a clean, attractive setting, and to being a dynamic part of the St. Paul community. The museum is unique because we celebrate the history of St. Paul des Metis and homesteading, life in the early 1900s, with displays on logging, farming, school, and the service industry. We are also proud to recognize our Indigenous, Metis and Ukrainian communities in our museum through partnerships with the local Metis Association, the St. Paul and District Ukrainian Society and the Societé Historique de St. Paul. Our newest acquisition is a Canadian Pacific Railway station that was located in Willingdon, AB and moved to the St. Paul museum site in 2023. Numerous early 1900's train related artifacts housed in and around the station depict the railway's contributions to developing the prairies. The museum provides an experiential experience for educational school groups and tourists, as well as a walk down memory lane and story sharing for seniors. During our busy summer season, we are open to the public seven days a week. In the winter months we are open two days a week and are available for tours by appointment on other days. We work closely with the Town and County of St. Paul, Family & Community Support Services, Community Futures and Champions for Change to facilitate annual community events such as: Canada Day, Alberta Open Farm Days, and the Community Tree Lighting. During the summer season we offer weekly children’s activities to enhance youth/community understanding of our region’s heritage. All in all the museum is one attraction not to be missed on your summer travels!
