Cultural Gathering Centre at Metis Crossing
Cultural Gathering Centre at Metis Crossing
Sitting on 668 acres of land comprised of river lot titles from the original Métis settlers in the late 1800s, our centre is designed to engage and excite visitors through an exploration of Métis cultural experiences. Our goal is to represent and share the essential elements of Métis culture, including pride of culture and respect through self-identification, family reconnection and reconciliation, sacredness of place, and empathy and acknowledgement.
The Cultural Gathering Centre, designed by Métis Architect Tiffany Shaw-Collinge from Manasc Isaac Architects, incorporates traditional craftsmanship with modern materials to create a stunning structure that hints at the building style of the fur trade era river lot homes while providing contemporary functionality as a gathering place to learn and share the Métis story.
