Ukranian Village & Cultural Centre
The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village Society was established in 1971 with the purpose of creating a heritage village that pays tribute to the Ukrainian settlement in east central Alberta. The society acquired the current site and began relocating buildings from farms and towns in the region.
In 1975, the Province of Alberta took over ownership of the site, continuing to focus on the significant theme of 'Early Ukrainian Settlement in East Central Alberta to 1930.' Over 40 buildings have since been moved to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) and meticulously researched, restored, and furnished to reflect their early 20th-century appearance. The museum also features a versatile visitor center with exhibit gallery spaces, offering a deeper understanding of the early Ukrainian settlement in east central Alberta.
