Hamlet of Thorhild
Built for Weekends Outside
Thorhild is a quiet place to visit and gives people a chance to experience rural Alberta. Its agricultural roots, cultural heritage, and community continue to shape its identity today.
Thorhild’s annual events are the Thorhild Bullarama, Community Trade Show, and Family Fair, which celebrate local talent, crafts, and agricultural traditions while bringing the community together. Visitors who enjoy the outdoors can explore parks, trails, and recreation areas for activities such as ATV riding, hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. In winter, seasonal celebrations add to the charm, while Long Lake Ski Area offers another attraction within Thorhild County. The Thorhild Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of Thorhild County and the surrounding area. Its exhibits include displays celebrating Finnish, German, Polish, and Ukrainian settlers, along with donated artifacts from local pioneer families. These exhibits help guests learn more about the region’s past. Although Thorhild is small, the history, events, and outdoor activities make it a great stop when you are in the area.
