3. WHAT ARE THE APPLICABLE TAXES IN ALBERTA?
The GST rate on most products and services in Alberta is 5%. There is no PST.
4. WHAT IS THE RULE FOR TIPPING?
There is no official rule for tipping in the Lakeland. Some restaurants may charge an automatic 15%-18% gratuity for larger groups, usually applicable to groups greater than 8. It is customary to tip between 10%-20% for services.
Some smaller shops may have tip jars, but you are not required to tip for counter service, and it is not customary to tip in retail stores. You will not be seen as rude if you choose not to.

In the event of an emergency, the local fire department, police department and paramedics are reached by dialing 911 from a cell phone or landline.
8. HOW DO I GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO MY HOTEL?
If you’re flying into Edmonton, the Red Arrow bus system provides service to many communities in the Lakeland.
9. SHOULD I RENT A CAR OR IS PUBLIC TRANSIT AVAILABLE?
We recommend driving your personal vehicle or a rental while you visit, giving you the freedom to explore the Lakeland as you desire!
10. I WANT TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS. WHEN SHOULD I VISIT THE LAKELAND?
The Aurora Borealis can be seen sporadically throughout the year. Unfortunately, the possibility of seeing this one-of-a-kind light show depends on many factors that we are unable to plan for. You can track the Aurora Borealis through Aurora Service and sign up for their alerts.
