This stone carving commemorates the memory of the ten million Ukrainians who perished during Holodomor. The Holodomor is a recognized genocide by the Parliament of Canada and most legislatures in Canada, including Alberta. The imposed famine in Soviet Ukraine was orchestrated by the Joseph Stalin regime in 1932 and 1933.
Stephen Yettaw learned his craft through experimenting and formal training. He studied at Nicholi Studio in Carrara, Italy and participated in sculpting symposiums in England and Brazil.
The monument is located in Lagasse Park in St. Paul and is featured in the St. Paul Art Walk
